WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

"A well-balanced and agile goaltender with good lateral movement...plays a classic butterfly style...effectively uses the paddle-down technique in scramble situations and wrap-arounds...angles well, staying square to the shooter...has very good rebound control...has a good glove hand and quick feet...sees the puck well in traffic...effectively plays the puck, setting up the breakout...a very alert goaltender who is technically sound...is very confident and maintains a cool demeanor." (Central Scouting Bureau, 2002)

"A strong technical goalie, Ward plays the butterfly style and has a knack for seeing through screens. Has lightning reflexes that translate into a quick glove hand. Doesn't give up too many juicy rebounds. GM Jim Rutherford loves stockpiling goaltenders, so Ward adds to the team's long-term depth." (The Sports Forecaster 2002-03, p. 120)

"Ward was gravely disappointed not to be chosen for Canada's national junior team, but that's about the only thing that hasn't gone right for the Red Deer goalie this season. He looked so good in training camp the Canes kept him around for a few extra days after the rest of the junior players were sent back. Ward parlayed that into a stellar start for the Rebels, where he is the backbone of a very talented team. He is technically sound and has an excellent attitude." (Luck Decock, The Hockey News Future Watch 2003, p. 23)

"Ward's rookie pro campaign with the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters was good enough to be given an immediate shot at a job with the 'Canes. The 2004 WHL Player of the Year has the intangibles, as well as the talent level, to succeed in the big league. Martin Gerber is already hearing footsteps." (The Sports Forecaster 2005-06, p. 105)
