WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
"After a prolonged absence, Roussel made his way back into the NHL in
1998-99 and didn't look out of place. A former No. 1 goaltender in
Philadelphia, Roussel adjusted well to a reduced role and formed a nice tandem
with Hebert. At 29, he's still young enough to have
some upside potential as a starter. The six-year veteran is a valuable backup
for a team that gives up a lot of shots. Roussel should be back as the Ducks'
backup and, with Hebert, forms one of the better duos in the league." (The
Sports Forecaster 1999-2000, p. 196)
"A capable half of a solid yet unspectacular one-two punch with
Hebert on The Pond, Roussel did a commendable job
for the first half of 1999-2000, posting a 2.79 GAA, but then fell apart,
seeing his average balloon to 3.85 during the second half. Roussel's backup
spot is in jeopardy since the Mighty Ducks acquired prospect
Giguere from the Flames over the summer."
(The Sports Forecaster 2000-01, p. 193)
"Roussel ended the 2000-01 season as Tommy Salo's
backup in Edmonton, after coming over from Anaheim in a trade. The 6-2,
200-pound veteran has had stops in four NHL cities since turning pro
in 1990-91." (The Sports Forecaster 2001-02, p. 226)
