FIRSTS:
- Twenty-year-old Alexander made his National Hoceky League debut at General Motors Place in Vancouver on January 16, 2010. With Pittsburgh
starters Marc-Andre Fleury and Brent Johnson both out with injuries, the Penguins placed
an emergency call to Pechurski, who was playing for the Western Hockey League's Tri-City Americans. Pechurski started the game backing up
John Curry, but when Curry allowed five goals on fourteen Vancouver shots, Pechurski entered the game. Pechurski stopped
12 of 13 shots, allowing only a power-play deflection from Ryan Kesler. "He showed a lot of poise. That's a tough situation to go into," Crosby
said of the young Russian, who was named the game's third star. "They had a lot of momentum, and they were still getting some good chances when he
came in. He showed a lot of guts coming in and playing the way he did. That's a tough way to come in, and he passed the test, big-time."
