BIOGRAPHY

BORN: Penticton, British Columbia, February 18, 1960
HOME: Coppell, Texas.
HEIGHT: 5'8"-5'9"
WEIGHT: 170-177 lbs
UNIFORM #: 35
CATCHES: Left
SALARY (1996-97): $850,000
LAST AMATEUR TEAM: Billings Big Horns WHL.

STYLE: Reflex
STRENGTHS: One of the most experienced goaltenders in the league. Comes out of net well to challenge shooters. Very sharp reflexes. Quick at regaining his feet.
WEAKNESSES: Very small for an NHL goaltender; he allows an inordinate number of top shelf goals. Five-hole is also a problem. Poor skating ability hampers his lateral movement and his getting back into the net.
Name pronounced MOAG.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

"The Bruins' veteran goaltending duo of Reggie Lemelin and Andy Moog stack up as one of the best in the league...Moog, 28, came over from Edmonton by way of the Canadian Olympic team on March 7, and compiled a 2.83 average in six games." (The Hockey News 1989 Yearbook, p. 27)

"Still capable of standing on his head - but for how many more games?" (ESPN Hockey 96, p. 103)

"Underrated reflex netminder who challenges Hall of Famers for lifetime victories. Passed Gump Worsley on the NHL all-time win list and trails Rogatien Vachon by just one, in sixth place overall." (The Sports Forecaster Hockey '97-'98, p. 162)

"Has 2.44 goals-against average, but real value is teaching 23-year-old co-No. 1 goalie Jocelyn Thibault how to be winner." (Pierre Maguire, Sports Illustrated, February 23, 1998)

"I feel more comfortable knowing there's a veteran backing me up. When he's out there, he's always talking, always showing you where to go and where the other players are. It's great having him around." (Vladimir Malakhov, ESPN Sportszone, April 1998)
