- Selected by Vancouver Canucks (second Vancouver pick, seventh overall) in National Hockey Supplemental draft, 1988.

- On Decmeber 15, 1990, while playing for the IHL's Milwaukee Admirals in a game against Peoria, Steve suffered an eventual career-ending neck injury after being checked from behind by Tony Twist.

- Steve graduated from the University of Miami (Ohio) with a bachelor of science degree in education, and began his post-professional career as an elementary teacher in Ontario.
- After his playing career ended, Steve founded the Future Pro Goalie School.
