Left game with groin injury, November 26, 2011. Just 5:31 into the game, Lehtonen suffered the injury when making a routine blocker save on Phoenix's Derek Morris, and was helped off the ice, unable to put weight on his right leg.

FIRSTS:

Kari made his National Hockey League debut, and earned his first National Hockey League victory, on March 19, 2004, in Atlanta's Philips Arena when his Thrashers defeated the visiting Florida Panthers by a 3-2 score. The Thrashers were trailing with just two minutes left, but scored twice on Roberto Luongo to take away the win. Lehtonen made nineteen shots. "I thought it would be great it they got like 20 shots," he said. "That's how it went. The whole team played well in front of me."
Stopping thirty shots, Lehtonen earned his first National Hockey League shutout on March 27, 2004, at Office Depot Center in Miami, as the Thrashers defeated the Florida Panthers, 3-0. "That was a big thing for me," said Lehtonen. "It's something that you want right away, and now I get it in my third game. That's a pretty good thing - I'm just happy." Lehtonen's best save came when he stopped Darcy Hordichuk on a breakaway late in the second period. Said Thrashers coach Bob Hartley: "You can tell that the kid's confidence is growing, like his demeanor out there around the net and his puck handling. He is just coming into the league, and his first couple of starts it seems that he has 10 years experience behind his belt."
