WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
"At minimum, Lasak will be playing for the Predators' IHL affiliate in
Milwaukee next season. He is another European pick that jumped at the chance to
play in North America when the Predators grabbed him in the 1999 entry draft.
Unorthodox and athletic in the net, his goals-against average has been 2.60 or
below most of the season. He has trememdous flexibility, good size at 6-foot,
204 pounds and a good glove hand." (The Hockey News Future Watch 2000)
"Made a lot of noise in his first season in North America with Hampton Roads
of the ECHL. Lasak is very acrobatic and has very quick reflexes. He will be
the No. 1 guy in Milwaukee this season but, like
Finley, his development will not be rushed." (The
Sports Forecaster 2000-01, p. 156)
"Lasak is a supremely confident, dynamic, athletic netminder who has played
about half of Milwaukee's games this season. Nashville likes his enthusiasm
and his talent, but they want him to do a better job of controlling rebounds
and adding consistency to his flamboyant style. Lasak is just finishing his
second season in North America, so he is still learning the nuances of playing
the angles and the puck on the smaller ice surface." (David Legwold, The
Hockey News Future Watch 2001)
"The acrobatic Slovak gets far less publicity than
Finley. However, he too is an excellent NHL
goaltending prospect. Lasak has adapted to North America well, first doing
admirably in the ECHL in his first season and then moving on and impressing in
the now defunct IHL. Lasak has tremendous raw ability and reflexes and is
still developing his game. The Predators are confident that they are set in
net for years to come with Finley and Lasak in the fold."
(The Sports Forecaster 2001-02, p. 162)
"He's an unorthodox goalie who made huge strides in the previous two years and
has continued that trend this season, his second with Milwaukee. A knee injury
caused him to miss a quarter of the season, but he immediately assumed the role
of that team's top goaltender when he returned, then was tabbed as Slovakia's
goalie for the Olympics. He has an aggressive style that [Nashville GM David]
Poile considers "exciting," and he makes key saves. He still needs to display
more consistency." (David Boclair, The Hockey News Future Watch 2002)
"Lasak had a strong year in Milwaukee, posting a 2.39 goals-against average and
a .916 save percentage to lead the Admirals. He also led Slovakia to gold at
the world championships, where he posted a 2.28 GAA and .921 save percentage.
Lasak may have passed Finley as the organization's
goaltender of the future and is closer to stepping into the NHL." (The
Sports Forecaster 2002-03, p. 156)

from Milwaukee for the game. Lasak's Predators held a 2-1 lead entering
the third period, allowing hist a first-period tally to Cory
Stillman, before the Blues' Ray Ferraro scored twice
to give St. Louis the victory. All told, Lasak stopped thirty-nine
of forty-two Blues shots, including a first-period penalty shot from
