• In 1953-54, Julian served as the roving goaltneder for the Eastern Hockey League, appearing in games for Troy, Louisville and Grand Rapids.
• On October 12, 1958, in a game between the Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers, the Rangers' Gump Worsley was injured with a pulled leg tendon in the opening minute of the third period, and could not continue. Klymkiw, Detroit's assistant trainer (and practice goaltender) was loaned to the Rangers for the remainder of the contest. Klymkiw allowed the final two goals in a 3-0 loss.
• The American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose awards the Julian Klymkiw Award for community service in the Winnipeg area.
