PENALTY SHOTS:
DID YOU KNOW?
- On March 29, 1980, Darren was in net for the University of North Dakota when they defeated Northern
Michigan University, 5-2, to win the national championship. Jensen made twenty saves in the victory, ending
his first-year season with a 13-0-1 record. Steve Weeks was in net for the
NMU Wildcats.
- On March 27, 1982, Darren was again in net for the University of North Dakota when they defeated
the University of Wisconsin, by a 5-2 count, winning their second national championship in three years.
Jensen stopped twenty-three shots in the victory, and was named to the All-Tournament Team. In net for
the Wisconsin Badgers was Terry Kleisinger. Interestingly enough,
Jensen does not appear in the team's championship photo, although backup netminder Jon
Casey is prominently displayed.
- On November 14, 1985, Darren was the first Philadelphia Flyer goaltender to appear in net following the tragic death
of Pelle Lindbergh. Moreover, Jensen and the Flyers beat the
defending Cup champion Edmonton Oilers.
