WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

"When it counted the most last season, he played his best. Will he show up all season?" (ESPN Hockey 96, p. 101)

"Hebert is finally getting the recognition he deserves after appearing in the playoffs, All-Star Game and finishing among the league save percentage leaders two years in a row. Late last season ['96-'97], Hebert started 42 of 43 games under tremendous playoff race pressure and during a 12-game unbeaten streak had a 1.85 goals-against average and a 94.6 save percentage." (The Hockey News 1997-98 Yearbook, p. 69)

"Guy Hebert played very well, but both he and Shtalenkov are in their thirties. The job is Hebert's to begin the season, but can he hold it?" (The Sports Forecaster Hockey '97-'98, p. 51)

"Anaheim has a solid No. 1 in Hebert. He has shown steady improvement during his career and is now a Top 10 backstop." (The Sports Forecaster Hockey '97-'98, p. 191)

"An original Mighty Duck, Hebert has persevered to become one of the top goalkeepers in the NHL. A consistent performer for the Ducks, he has led them to the playoffs twice in the past three seasons. Hebert has played a lot of hockey and could use more rest during such a gruelling season in order to conserve some energy. Hebert's main strength is his ability to improvise in traffic and his flexibility. Hebert will once again be a key figure in the Ducks' playoff drive. He should be given more than just 13 games off, however." (The Sports Forecaster 1999-2000, p. 196)

"Workhorse now nearing his mid-30s maintained a goals-against average of fewer than 3.00 for a fifth consecutive season. But everything wasn't rosy between the pipes last season. In fact, the veteran ran into some problems with routine shots and was somewhat criticized for failing to backstop the Ducks to a playoff spot. As the third highest paid player on the team, Hebert must deliver as a big-game goalie or the Ducks will be roasted. A character guy, expect him to bounce back solidly." (The Sports Forecaster 2000-01, p. 193)

"After seven mostly stellar seasons in Anaheim, Hebert's game fell apart in 2000-01. Waived by the Ducks, he landed on his feet in Manhattan. The native of Troy, N.Y., turned things around late in the season with the Rangers. Hebert is a cagey veteran with an excellent mind-set. His skills have diminished over time but his attitude has remained refreshing and upbeat. Despite his hefty salary, the 34-year-old is an ideal No. 2 backstop at this stage of his career. The Rangers will likely rotate goaltenders in order to keep Mike Richter fresh. Therefore, Hebert will likely see action in 30-35 games." (The Sports Forecaster 2001-02, p. 101)
