On January 23, 1944, Connie was the winning goaltender in the most lopsided game in National Hockey League history, as the Detroit Red Wings blasted the New York Rangers, 15-0, at the Olympia in Detroit. Dion had to make just nine saves to earn his first career NHL shutout.
