• Frederic made his National Hockey League debut on Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Tampa against the Lightning. Cassivi entered the game when starter Milan Hnilicka had to leave after a collision with Lightning forward Sheldon Keefe. Tampa Bay defenseman Pavel Kubina finished a 3-on-2 rush with a slapshot between Cassivi's legs just two minutes into his appearance, but he stopped the other twelve shots he faced. However, his Thrashers would lose by a 4-2 count.
• Frederic started his first National Hockey League game, and earned his first National Hockey League victory, on Friday, March 22, 2002, in Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers. Backed up by Scott Fankhouser, Frederic stopped five shots in the first, and sixteen shots in the second, as his Thrashers built a 4-0 lead. In the third, Eric Lindros and Pavel Bure each scored, but Cassivi made twelve more saves to preserve the 5-2 Atlanta win. His counterpart for the game, Mike Richter, had to leave the game just 2:20 in due to a head injury, and was replaced by Dan Blackburn, who allowed all five Thrasher goals.

• While with the IHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, Frederic was a volunteer high school French teacher.
