- Belosheikin was born in the Sakhalin Islands and started as a defenseman, not playing goal until his family moved to Leningrad when he was six.
- A few months after the 1987 Canada Cup, Belosheiken was found unconscious, along with
teammate Alexei Gusarov, in Gusarov's apartment, the victim of an apparent robbery.
Belosheikin was left with vision problems as well as liver damage.
