WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

"He plays with good athleticism and quickness and was outstanding in the Panthers' rookie camp." (The Hockey News Future Watch 2000)

"The tall, rangy Auld backed up Maxime Ouellet on Canada's World Junior Championship team. He has a chance to be the first goalie drafted by this franchise to actually reach full maturity with the Panthers. This season, Auld has been among the Ontario League leaders in goals-against average and save percentage on a team playing well above .500. Florida expects Auld to make the jump up to the AHL next year." (David J. Neal, The Hockey News Future Watch 2001)

"Mammoth-sized goaltending prospect Auld was a backup for Canada at the world juniors and was one of the OHL's top netminders in 2000-01. He is now expected to graduate to the AHL. A good angles goalie, the Canucks' top goaltending prospect should step into the AHL this season." (The Sports Forecaster 2001-02, p. 193)

"A serious ankle sprain in camp kept the first-year pro on the sidelines early. He was eventually assigned to the East Coast League before working his way back to Manitoba, where he went 8-5-0 and won a player-of-the-week award. Auld was rewarded with an NHL start Jan. 23 when Dan Cloutier and Peter Skudra were injured. He responded with an outstanding 20-save performance in a 4-2 win over Dallas. His poise and positioning were exceptional. "He's the type of goaltender, with his size (6-foot-4) and athletic ability, that could round into a No. 1," [Vancouver assistant GM Dave] Nonis said." (Elliott Pap, The Hockey News Future Watch 2002)

"Auld suffered an injury setback early last season but put up excellent numbers in the ECHL after coming back and was promoted to the AHL. He has tremendous size and fills a great portion of the net. The Canucks will most likely keep him in the AHL for the next season or two but think he has all the tools to round into an excellent NHL netminder." (The Sports Forecaster 2002-03, p. 187)

"A second-year pro, Auld's consistency has improved dramatically with the Manitoba Moose, but the Canuck brass would like to see him carry more of a heavy workload. Auld still has to work on his puckhandling, part of the reason being he doesn't get out of the net as quickly as he should. "He's making strides," [Vancouver assistant GM Dave] Nonis said. "He's rounding into a guy we're looking at to maybe step into the NHL in a year or two."" (Elliott Pap, The Hockey News Future Watch 2003, p. 35)

"Auld is now entrenched as the second-string netminder with Vancouver, and the 24-year-old puck-stopper still has aspirations for the No. 1 job. In order to take over for Dan Cloutier, however, Auld will need to show greater consistency on a game-to-game basis. For now, he should see 25-35 appearances in 2005-06." (The Sports Forecaster 2005-06, p. 98)
