WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

"Doesn't have [Craig] Hillier's potential, but is No. 3 on depth chart. Has played well in NHL stints." (Joe Starkey, The Hockey News Future Watch 1999)

"Some think Aubin will be the Penguins goaltender of the future. A hard worker, Aubin has the ability to keep his team in the game with clutch saves. Was successful in the high scoring QMJHL, which is a feat of its own. Will most likely battle for the full-time backup job in Pittsburgh this season." (The Sports Forecaster 1999-2000, p. 120)

"The long, endless search for Tom Barrasso's successor appears to be over. Despite an injury that kept him out of the playoffs, Aubin showed the Pens he's ready to take over the reigns [sic]. A quiet, cool customer, Aubin plays with the poise of a 10-year veteran. If he can show more durability, he will backstop the Penguins into the 2001 playoffs. Aubin will likely start 50-55 games this season. Since Pittsburgh gives up more shots than the league average, Aubin's numbers may not always reflect his ability." (The Sports Forecaster 2000-01, p. 109)

"Is virtually guaranteed of becoming Pittsburgh's main man between the pipes in 2000-01. Aubin needs to prove to the Penguins that he can remain injury-free for a full season...Will never show awesome numbers, playing on the run-and-gun Penguins, but should provide the key save at the right time." (The Sports Forecaster Online, 2000-01)

"The Penguins gave the right-catching goalkeeper every opportunity to become their main man between the pipes last season. Aubin failed to do so. The 76th overall selection in 1995 was never comfortable with the lead role, often fighting the puck instead of making an easy save. The 24-year-ol is still in the Pens' plans for the future, although he's lost a lot of ground to Johan Hedberg since late March. Aubin enters training camp with a lot to prove. He must put his nightmarish season of a year ago behind him." (The Sports Forecaster 2001-02, p. 111)

"Aubin's goals-against average has been rising steadily since 1998-99. Last season, he may have hit rock bottom with just three wins and an average close to four goals per game. He will be in tough for a roster spot in 2002-03." (The Sports Forecaster 2002-03, p. 109)
