• During his time as the team's practice netminder, Don was a mathematician for the United States Air Force.
• Don was the practice goaltender for the Boston Bruins on March 13, 1958, when Montreal's Jacques Plante suffered a concussion during the second period of a game with Boston. In relief, Aiken yielded the Bruins' final six goals in a 7-3 defeat.
